When Donald Trump was asked in a recent interview about his relationship with God and prayer life, he replied with evasion — gushing about how he loves evangelicals, how so many supporters pray for him, how religion is so great and how being good is necessary to attain heaven.
First off, I don’t believe he prays because I don’t believe he believes; otherwise, he would’ve replied on point. Period.
Second, in light of the grossly amoral, unrepentant behavior he’s demonstrated for decades, when he says that without heaven, there’s no reason to be good, he gives himself away again.
Third, the truth about evangelicals is that he’s spoken of them derisively, as he has of his supporters generally.
Enter Howard Stern, former friend of the liar’s liar: “The people Trump despises most, love him the most. … I’m talking to … the Trump voter who, you know, idolizes the guy. He despises you.”
