POLAND — The Poland Select Board held a reorganizational meeting Tuesday night and welcomed recently elected Selectpersons Lisa Albee and John DeSantis.
The board proceeded to appoint persons to town administration offices as recommended by Town Manager Matt Garside, and endorsed residents who wished to serve on the various committees and boards which are not elected positions.
The Select Board voted to hold a public hearing Tuesday, July 16, on the transfer of $15,000 between the capital improvement funds of the Public Works and Fire Rescue departments.
A decision on the transfer by the board will follow the public hearing.
The board also approved establishing a five-member Broadband Committee on a request by Selectperson Maryanne Hawkes.
The committee will explore the possibility of establishing a town-managed fiber-optics service in order to provide internet coverage throughout the community.
People interested in joining the committee should attend the Tuesday, Aug. 6, Select Board meeting.
Stephen Robinson was elected chairman of the Select Board.
