Vandals caused several hundred thousand dollars in damage at a New Gloucester solar farm on Sunday night, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said.

At least two people used construction machinery on site at Novel Energy Solutions Solar Farm to damage the installation between 10:30 and 11 p.m. on Sunday, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office was not able to provide any updates on Tuesday evening. Novel Energy was not available for comment Tuesday night.

The sheriff’s office’s Criminal Investigation Division is asking the public for information that would help identify suspects by contacting Detective Cole Chandler or Detective Sgt. Patrick Ferriter. The public can call 207-774-1444, extension 2173 or 2171 to provide information.
