OTISFIELD — The tradition of the past several years continues. The Otisfield Fire Department and Firefighters’ Association have quite a line up for all to enjoy: a parade, bake sale, cookie contest, free watermelon, tattoos, the National Anthem, and a patriotic water spray.

The parade starts at 10 a.m., starting at Sherwood Drive and continuing to Spurrs Corner Fire Station which is the center of activity. Parade participants are encouraged: Floats, Antique/Classic cars, Motorcycles, ATVs, Bicycles, Animals, Walkers. Lineup is at 9:30 on Sherwood Drive off Route 121. The more the merrier. Awards will be given out.

Homemade goodies from some of the best local cooks make up the Bake Sale. Bakers, consider yourself kindly asked. Pies get snatched up quickly. Baked goods may be dropped off at the Fire Station from 8 – 9 a.m. In addition there’s a Cookie Baking contest with cash prizes for the top three winners. All cookies must be homemade.

Contestants should bring two dozen cookies in a sealed container to the Fire Station before 9 AM. Watermelon is free for your refreshment. Speaking of refreshing, after the National Anthem is sung, the Fire Truck sprays patriotic colored water high into the air for young and old to consider cooling themselves down.
