The Norway Country Club Ladies Golf Association is planning its 11th annual Drive Out Cancer Golf Tournament on Thursday, Aug. 8, at Norway Country Club. Proceeds from this event will be donated to the Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine.
This nonprofit, located at 59 Winter St. in Norway, serves anyone impacted by cancer in the Oxford Hills and surrounding communities including Bridgton, Bethel and Rumford. The center offers free in-person and virtual programs, classes, support groups, travel and food assistance, plus a variety of comfort items. This fundraising event includes a ladies’ 18hole scramble, basket raffle and silent auction, according to a news release from Sue Craib with the association.
Members of the association will ask friends and businesses in the Oxford Hills and surrounding area for donations and for their silent auction and raffle. Individuals or businesses may sponsor this tournament by choosing to be a bronze sponsor for $250, a silver sponsor for $500 or a gold Sponsor for $1,000. These sponsors will have their name on a sign by the club house and name listed in the program. For $125 a business or individual may be a tee sponsor and have their name posted on a sign at a golf tee.
The ladies also collect a variety of items and gift certificates from local restaurants, golf courses and stores in the area for their silent auction and basket raffle. The public may place bids and purchase raffle tickets the week before the tournament up until the golf tournament begins. All winners will be announced after lunch on that day.
There will be a sign-up sheet at the golf course or one can call 207-807-0226. Anyone with questions or interested in making a tax-deductible donation may call 207-807-0226 or email info@crcofwm.org.
