I wholeheartedly concur with Ben Lounsbury’s call for more enforcement of traffic laws (“Unsafe driving in Auburn,” July 5).
Speed limits are routinely ignored, and red traffic signals too often seem to be treated as mere suggestions. Twice in the past week I have watched multiple cars cross my path as I sat at a green light, indicating that these drivers drove through a light that had been red for at least two seconds after a three second yellow warning.
At 40 mph (seemingly the default speed for a 25-mph limit) these drivers had a football field in which to stop. These phenomena seem to be increasing in frequency and severity, and they will continue to do so unless stepped-up enforcement is applied.
