NORWAY — The Friends of Norway Memorial Library are announcing the last two pop-up book sales of the summer. The sales are on Saturday, July 13, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. and Saturday, August 10, from 9 a.m. until noon. The July sale coincides with the Norway Arts Festival. The August sale is a $2 bag sale. Both sales are outside the Gingerbread House at 500 Main Street in Norway. Rain may cause cancellation. Park in the public lot on Water Street and use the footbridge to the sale site. Fiction and nonfiction books in hardcover and paperback are priced reasonably and available for all ages.
These book sales and the Friends of Norway Memorial Library membership drive are the two major fundraisers that allow the organization to support library programs and events. This past year, the Friends of the Library purchased five community passes to parks and museums that library cardholders may borrow, purchased all video and audio materials, added streaming video using the cloudLibrary app, hosted author Bruce Robert Coffin, and performances by actor Andrew Harris as Charles Dickens and the Pontine Theatre in an original work titled Robert Frost’s New Hampshire.
The annual membership drive is happening now. To join the Friends of Norway Memorial Library, stop by the library at 258 Min Street in Norway or call 743-5309 to request a membership form.
