DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Saint Dominic Regional High School class of 1973 has planned a belated 50th class reunion for Sept. 14.
We are still looking for a few classmates and hope Sun Spotters might help us locate them. They are Philip Madore, Joanne Bibeau Blouin and David Robitaille.
Thank you for any information Sun Spots readers can give us. I can be reached at deda48@yahoo.com.—Linda, no town
ANSWER: Let us help Linda find these St. Dom’s classmates. We certainly do not want them to miss the opportunity to join this big reunion celebration. It is a special one.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: A baked bean supper is planned for 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, at Sixth Street Congregational Church at 109 Sixth St. in Auburn.
The menu consists of two kinds of beans, brown bread, coleslaw, red and brown hot dogs, assorted casseroles, assorted desserts and beverages.
The cost is $9 for adults, $5 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for those younger than 5. All are welcome. Takeout is available.—Elizabeth, Auburn
ANSWER: These suppers are so reasonably priced, and you will not have to heat up your kitchen. Have a night out and enjoy.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: With all the heat and humidity lately, my house, especially my bedroom closet and bureau drawers, smell so musty. I am a senior on a budget so fancy air purifiers and dehumidifiers are not affordable for me. What can I do that would be inexpensive?—Glady, no town
ANSWER: Do you have some electric fans? They will help dry out the air in your home. Also, use baking soda from the Dollar Store. Place a good amount in a bowl and set it inside your closet and in every room of the house. Cover it with a piece of cheesecloth and secure with a rubber band or with a piece of panty hose, if you are concerned about spilling it.
For your bureau drawers, spoon some baking soda into a coffee filter and secure it closed with a piece of string or a rubber band. Change the baking soda every two weeks or so. This method will go a long way to absorb odors of all kinds.
If your clothing is smelling musty, you can add some baking soda to the wash with your regular detergent.
Another option is bamboo charcoal deodorizers. The charcoal comes in cloth sachets that can be set in the sun on a dry day to refresh every couple months or so. These come in different sizes to place in drawers or to hang on clothes hangars and various places throughout your home.
These odor busters can be found at Walmart, Amazon and hardware stores. They should last a while, as long as you refresh them.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have French VHS movies and German and Italian grammar books to give away. Those interested should call 207-795-6791.—Bernie, no town
ANSWER: Your items could be helpful to someone. I hope you have a taker. If not, you could contact your local high school to see if your items can be of use there.
