DEAR SUN SPOTS: Great Falls Model Railroad Club will host a Surplus Assets Sale at 144 Mill St. in Auburn on Saturday, July 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. We will have model railroad equipment in various scales, railroad books, scenery supplies, and more for sale. Our layouts will be open for viewing as well. Come equipped with a bag or purchase one while you’re here. We have plenty of materials to buy. — Bryn, no town
ANSWER: This sounds like a fun and unique event. I have a dear friend who is a model railroad enthusiast and he has enjoyed it so much over the years. The displays are so interesting with all the miniature scenery. It’s a great hobby for all ages.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: The North Waterford Congregational Church at 10 Irving Green Road, off Route 35, will hold the third public supper of the season on Tuesday, July 23, from 5-6:30 p.m.
Baked beans, American chop suey, cole slaw, salads, casseroles, brown bread, rolls, beverages and strawberry shortcake will be served. The price is $12 for adults and $6 for children under 12.
Thank you for including our suppers in your column. — Milly, North Waterford
ANSWER: You are most welcome, dear. I love knowing this old Maine tradition is still going strong thanks to people like you!
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have a question that no one from this area seems to be able to answer. There seems to be quite a few tanning parlors in this area and not one of them can name anyone who will service tanning equipment.
We all used to contact Central Maine Tanning in Chelsea but they have not been in business for a long time. So, what I’m asking is do you by any chance have the name of someone who does this in your Rolodex? We are all left high and dry and need help. Thank you for your service to us. — Anita, no town
ANSWER: I don’t have any names in the Rolodex but I did some scouting around and discovered TSU ( https://tanningsuppliesunlimited.com/tanning-bed-repair/), a mobile company that serves several states in the Northeast. The number is 1-800-569-3911 and they also have the option of filling out a form on their website.
Another choice is Fix Rays in Newport. This was listed online and the number there is 570-0514.
If you haven’t already, you may just want to call around to other tanning salons near you and see what others are doing for service. And of course, readers, if you know of anyone, please let us know!
