The wait is finally over for the newest restaurant to debut in Lewiston and Auburn. Food Point, a Brazilian-style steakhouse, held a soft opening July 12 and is ready for business at 413 Main St. in Lewiston.
Owner Rita Ferreira, her daughter Ana and five employees are ready to dish out the churrascaria, Portuguese for grilled meats or steakhouse.
Ferreira, who is originally from Angola, and her team have been working since early January the spruce up the two dining rooms and counter bar with seating.
Unlike most traditional Brazilian steakhouses, service at Food Point is buffet style, not tableside, for a flat fee of $45 for all you can eat. The price does not include drinks or dessert, which are available. Vegetarian offerings are also available.

It has a full bar license for spirits, wine and beer. There are some house specials, such as caipirinhas — the specialty house cocktail, traditionally made with cachaca, a Brazilian rum made from sugar cane. Caipirinhas are offered with traditional lime juice or passion fruit, strawberry or mucua juice, which comes from the fruit of the baobab tree in Angola and other parts of Africa.
Food Point is open Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday from noon to 11 p.m.; Thursday, Friday and Saturday from noon to 1 a.m. It is closed Mondays.
The business has a Facebook page and is working on a website. The restaurant can be contacted at 207-241-2717.
