LIVERMORE FALLS — Two quotes received for a new wheel plow truck will be shared for consideration at the next Select Board meeting, Highway Foreman Bill Nichols said at the Tuesday, July 16 meeting.
“I reached out to five manufacturers,” Nichols said. “I heard from four and we did receive two quotes back. That is all we got.”
Nichols said he didn’t have time to review them July 16 as he was getting ready for paving on Wednesday, wanted to make sure everything that had been asked for was included.
“By next meeting we should have everything, all the answers, questions answered and have everything all ready,” he noted. “I just want to make sure everything is right. There are 18 pages for each truck.”
Chair Will Kenniston asked if the quotes were for the Ford truck.
“No, the Ford we got in a couple of weeks ago,” Nichols replied. “This is for a wheel plow truck to replace our 2009 Wheeler that we have.”
Nichols confirmed it was the truck purchase planned for this year. “Next year we will raise money for the plow gear,” he said.
Kenniston asked if there was still a lead time for trucks or if that had gotten better.
One truck could come late winter, the other company is saying next spring, Nichols responded. “No one is giving a definite date on when they would be in,” he noted. “Just approximate delivery dates.”
“That is better than two years though,” Kenniston said.
“One of the manufacturers I did talk with, he said that they were two years and he didn’t even put anything in,” Nichols stated. “The other one said he was interested but I never heard anything back. The other one showed no interest whatsoever.”
“They must have too much business,” Kenniston said.
“A lot of companies don’t like dealing with municipalities anymore,” Nichols noted. “They have to give a discount … and they are selling enough trucks without doing that.”
Nichols indicated he provided the details for informational purposes, would present the quotes next meeting.
