PHILLIPS — Incumbent Mike Soboleski is seeking reelection to House District 73, having been chosen during a Republican caucus on July 17.
Soboleski had thrown his hat in the 2nd Congressional District race, but lost to Rep. Austin Theriault in the Republican primary held in June. Days after that primary, Kevin Lee Scott withdrew his bid for the House District 73 seat. Republicans then nominated Soboleski to replace Scott.

According to a written statement from Soboleski, “I am so excited to have the chance to run to continue to represent District 73 in the Maine House of Representatives. I spent the last two years advocating for the area and getting things done, like expedited flood cleanup, getting access to safe lithium mining, stewarding our rivers as well as protecting our redemption centers. Most importantly, I was able to defeat the EV mandate to protect Maine consumers.”
Soboleski also wrote, “There’s a lot of work left to do. We need to make the new rules for paid family medical leave, have legislative review to make sure that they are business friendly and that the people have a say on them. We need to take a hard look at the Office of New Americans and make sure that the program is economically viable and has appropriate oversight. There will be a whole host of new issues in the 132nd Legislature and I am excited to advocate for common sense solutions to them.”
Soboleski will face off against independent Tiffany Bond for the seat during the General Election on Nov. 5. Bond has twice before, in 2018 and 2022, sought election to the 2nd Congressional District without success.
