DEAR SUN SPOTS: Last week (July 17 Sun Spots), I inquired about a used stainless kitchen sink. I had about a half-dozen calls and messages.
A wonderful lady from Jay was so kind and offered a sink from a kitchen remodel. It’s in great shape and much nicer than I expected. It’s just perfect. Thank you, Debbie from Jay, and to all the other folks who got back to me. You’re a great help, Sun Spots! —No name, no town
ANSWER: You just made my heart sing! You were obviously meant to have that sink so you could finish your outdoor garden project for your wife.
This is just a small example of what the universe does for you when you simply ask for what you need.
We all know that Sun Spots Land is a special place filled with kind, helpful people. Let’s all keep a good thing going on!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m hoping you or your readers can help me find the Deering Ice Cream Shop recipe for their delicious house dressing that they served from 1970-1973. At that time Deering’s was located next to King’s Department Store in Auburn.
Thank you for the work you put into your column for us. — Vick, Leeds
ANSWER: I’m stumped but perhaps a Sun Spotter will have the recipe on a scrap of paper somewhere.
When I went to Deering’s back in the day, I skipped the salad and went for the cheeseburger and fries, followed by a Dusty Road Sundae (coffee ice cream with hot fudge and malt powder)!
For the dressing, my best guess is to whisk together 2/3 cup extra virgin olive oil, 1/3 cup red wine vinegar, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. Add freshly grated Parmesan cheese to taste.
