PHILLIPS — Bob Lloyd brought his show to Phillips Public Library July 20 for the summer reading program. He has been entertaining audiences for over 40 years with his unique blend of magic, juggling and pantomime. His journey into the world of magic began as a child, performing at birthday parties. As his skills grew, he incorporated juggling and pantomime into his acts.
In 1981, Lloyd was accepted into the Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Clown College. After graduating, he toured nationally for two years with the legendary “Greatest Show on Earth.” A dedicated martial artist, Lloyd holds a fifth-degree black belt and continues to train and teach Tae Kwon Do and Jujitsu. Today, his lifetime of skills is showcased in his performances.
On a warm, sunny day, children and parents gathered in the art studio at the Phillips Public Library. The studio, adorned with lights, paintings and murals, exuded a welcoming atmosphere. The building, a former primary school from the 1800s, provided a charming backdrop for Lloyd’s show.
Lloyd began his performance with robotic dance moves set to music, engaging the audience from the start. He then demonstrated his juggling prowess with balls, clubs and card tricks. The children were thrilled, giggling and smiling as they eagerly participated in the tricks, such as spinning a ball on their fingers with Lloyd’s help. Despite the heat, Lloyd maintained the audience’s attention with his lively music, dancing and showmanship.
