Before last summer, it was illegal for people addicted to drugs or legal marijuana users to own or possess a firearm in Maine. But Auburn’s Rep. Laurel Libby sponsored a bill allowing individuals who lawfully use or possess cannabis to carry guns.
There are plenty of decent, law-abiding people who own and use guns, and the same is true with marijuana users. But was it wise to link the two legally?
Her proposal was passed and became law.
If a river breaches its banks, all hell can break loose. But apparently, Libby has little need for river banks, and gun rights for marijuana users is fine and dandy.
Her legislation demonstrates a devotion to gun rights so blind that she’ll risk endangering the public (Second Amendment uber alles), and, moreover, she likely knows little about the potency of today’s cannabis.
People should vote for Dan Campbell. He values dependable river banks.
