POLAND — Androscoggin County Sheriff’s deputies and Poland Fire Rescue Department responded Saturday afternoon to reports of a drowning at Range Pond State Park.

Poland Fire Rescue Department Capt. Shawn Hazelton said first responders were called out to the Range Pond boat launch just after 2 p.m. for reports of a drowning.

He said first responders located a person in the water, retrieved them and transported them to a local hospital.

Hazelton said further details would come from the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office was not available for comment.
