BETHEL — Award-winning author Sy Montgomery plans to participate in Mahoosuc Land Trust’s 4th annual Habitat For All Monarch Festival.
Montgomery will speak in person at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Gem Theater, 48 Cross St. She will discuss her latest book, “Of Time and Turtles,” which recounts her experiences working at a hospital for sick, injured and abandoned turtles and how land conservation protects these often critically endangered animals.

Joining Montgomery on Sunday, Aug. 18, at The Habitat For All Monarch Festival will be staff from the Turtle Rescue League with live turtle ambassadors. The festival runs from noon to 4 p.m. at Valentine Farm, 162 North Road. This year there will be more educational opportunities, from the Xerces Society and gardening demonstrations to the ever popular “Bug Guy.” There will be talks in the garden, guided bird walks, story time and plenty of children’s activities.
Follow Mahoosuc Land Trust on Facebook or Instagram as it shares more details about the event over the next several weeks.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
Comments are managed by our staff during regular business hours Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturday and Sunday. Comments held for moderation outside of those hours may take longer to approve.
