DEAR SUN SPOTS: My husband passed away a few months ago. Is there a free grief support group in the Lewiston/Auburn area? — No name, no town

ANSWER: I’m sending you a big hug right now and holding you in my heart. Andwell Health Partners (formerly Androscoggin Home Healthcare + Hospice) at 15 Strawberry Ave. in Lewiston has a “Guidance Through Grief” (8-week adult grief) group that will meet in the Cumberland Conference Room every Thursday from Sept. 5 through Oct. 24 from noon until 1:30 p.m.

According to the description of the group on their website, Andwell Hospice believes all people deserve access to services that can enhance one’s quality of life after the loss of a loved one. “Guidance Through Grief’ is offered to support individuals through the grieving process.

This is a general grief group offered to individuals who are family members of an Andwell hospice patient as well as for members of the community. There is no charge to participate.

Another good fit for you is “Partner Loss” (6-week adult grief group) meeting in the Oxford Conference Room every Wednesday from Sept. 4 until Oct. 9 from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

“Partner Loss” grief group is a support group for individuals who have lost a spouse, fiancé or significant other. The description: “The loss of a life partner can cause many changes and bring up many questions. Comfort can be found when you know that you are not alone in your struggles. Having an opportunity to tell your story is an important part of your grief process.”

“Partner Loss” grief group can be attended without prior group work. However, interested participants may want to attend “Guidance through Grief” prior to attending this group that is offered to individuals who lost a partner on services with Andwell Hospice, as well as for individuals in the community. There is no charge to participate.

You can check out https://andwell.org/health-services/bereavement-support/adult-services/ for more information or contact the organization at 777-7740 or 1-800-482-7412 or there is a form to fill out here: https://andwell.org/about/contact-us/.

Another option is The Compassionate Friends of Lewiston Maine that meets at the East Auburn Baptist Church at 560 Park Ave. in Auburn on the second Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. For further information, contact Lena at lenahann33@gmail.com or 713-7774.

Readers, please let me know if there are any churches or organizations in the area with help for those who are grieving the loss of a loved member.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Mechanic Falls Community Day and our yard sale was so successful with attendance and donations received because of readers seeing it in Sun Spots. Because of this, we’ll be having a second sale at the Anglican Church at 64 Elm St. in Mechanic Falls on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Thank you for all that you do for the community, and I appreciate your daily information. — Nancy, no town

ANSWER: Thank you for the feedback, Nancy. I do my best to connect Sun Spotters. It really is fun to see how everything fits together! I hope your next event is fabulous!
