NORWAY — The Matolcsy Arts Center, at 480 Main Street in Norway, is pleased to announce “Restorations: The Art of the Collector” through the month of August. This exhibit is hosted by Rich Sousa, with many examples from his collection. Rich finds worthwhile and neglected artwork and “enjoys bringing things back to life.” The exhibit will feature more than thirty restored artworks.
The painting shown above is an 1852 portrait of Sarah van Sice by artist G. V. Cooper. Cooper was a significant American portraitist who completed the last painted portrait of Abraham Lincoln in 1865.
The exhibit will open on Saturday, August 3, at 1 p.m., with a talk by Mr. Sousa.
The exhibition at the MAC will be open Fridays and Saturdays from noon to three, by appointment, and whenever the “Open” sign is displayed.
