AUBURN — Forlorn fans of the Breakfast Club that was abruptly shut down last month on WIGY radio can start listening to popular hosts Mark Turcotte and Sara Poulin on a podcast starting Tuesday.
Lydia Media, the parent company of LA Magazine and Uncle Andy’s Digest, will host the daily podcast, “Lydia’s Lunch Bunch” according to publisher Pam Ashby. “It’s the morning show in the afternoon,” Ashby said Monday. The podcast, which will range in length from 30-45-minutes will be recorded in the morning and will be available to the public starting at 11 a.m. on the Lydia Media website, lydiamediallc.com and on the Lydia Media Facebook page.
The inaugural podcast will focus on this weekend’s Lewiston-Auburn Balloon Festival and the special guest will be Shanna Cox, the president and CEO of the LA Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce. Ashby said that Lydia’s Lunch Bunch will focus on local events and issues, interviews and entertainment.
Ashby offered this description of the new podcast, “a fun and informative look at what’s happening in the Lewiston and Auburn area. From local updates and events to hilarious banter and community spotlights, we’ve got you covered. It’s like your favorite morning show you listen to at lunch.”
The Breakfast Club on WIGY radio was on the air for four years before ending July 24. WIGY owner Stan Bennett said that shutting down the morning show was an economic decision. At the time, Turcotte and Poulin expressed shock at the move and neither knew what would happen next.
