The paintings of Ken Harvey and Kathy Jolicoeur will be on display during the month of August in the Woman’s Hospital Association Rotating Art Gallery at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
Harvey is a watercolor artist who has been exploring this medium for over thirty-five years. “The first time I saw the incredible flow of the colors mingling on the paper and realized the endless creative possibilities that were available to me, I was hooked.” After working for a major corporation for 32 years he took the opportunity to retire and follow his life-long dream of becoming a full-time artist. He is presently engaged in plein air painting and is one of a number of artists who participates each year in the Great Paint Out in Boothbay. As he shares stories of his art, he enjoys describing new locations he has discovered along the coast. His work has been shown at several L/A Art Walks.
Born into an artistic family in Jay, Jolicoeur has also been painting for over thirty-five years. Mostly self-taught with a few lessons from local artists, her mediums are mainly oils, acrylics, and pastels. Among her favorite subjects to paint are landscapes, still lifes, and prophetic art. She enjoys expanding her career goals with plein air painting, and art lessons for children and adults.
The works on display may be purchased through the WHA Gift Shop located adjacent to the main lobby at Central Maine Medical Center. A percentage of sale proceeds benefits patients of CMMC.
