The Strangely Possibles will perform at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 19, at the gazebo at the Poland Spring Resort in Poland Spring.
The Strangely Possibles is a Portland based band featuring Jason Phelps, Annegret Baier, Al Timpson, Shannon Allen, Flash Allen, and Chris Dow plays a fresh blend of funky psychedelic rock-folk. Authentic West African percussion with a ethereal cello allows for travel to new musical places. The lyrics could stand alone as simple poetry and the band’s competent arrangements support the emotion behind those lyrics. One critic noted, “A tasty stew of musical flavors…T.S.P. serve up more than enough musical variety to satisfy the most jaded “heard-it-all” hipster.”
The band is finishing its fifth album. Their live shoes embrace a bunch of high energy covers to complement their originals.
If the weather is inclement, the concert will be held in the dining room of the Maine Inn. There are chairs available, but feel free to bring your own. Poland Spring Bottling will provide complimentary water. Hamburgers, hot dogs, and chicken breast sandwiches will be available to purchase.
Admission is $5. Poland Spring Resort is located at 640 Maine St., Poland Spring. For more information, contact the Poland Spring Preservation Society at 207-998-4142.
