LEWISTON — A Massachusetts man was arrested early Friday after police say he shot a woman on Blake Street about 2 a.m.

The woman was hospitalized and expected to survive.

Sirwarrior Greene, 34, of Worcester, Massachusetts, was charged with elevated domestic aggravated assault, reckless conduct with a firearm, falsifying evidence and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Police did not say what led to the shooting. About 2 a.m., they were called to 100 Blake St. where they found the 46-year-old woman suffering from a serious gunshot wound. The first police officers at the scene rendered aid before she was taken to Central Maine Medical Center. The woman has not been identified.

Police said that during their investigation, they recovered a handgun that had previously been reported stolen.

Green was being held later Friday at the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn without bail.
