The rain location is Bingham Auditorium at Gould Academy. A special feature is a song arranged by Heather Hastings, a former member of the Mahoosuc Community Band and formerly from Norway.
She will direct the band with her arrangement for concert band of “The Maine State Song” by Roger Vinten Snow. Familiar songs include “Jurassic Park” by John Williams, “Shenandoah” by Frank Ticheli, “El Relicardio” by Jose Padilla, “The Stars and Stripes Forever” by John Phillip Sousa, “St. Louis Blues” by W.C. While the concert is free to the public, donations are accepted and help provide music for the band and the community. If there is a specific song you’d like, consider Buy-A-Song and contact the band president or any member of the music committee. The Mahoosuc Community Band continues to provide music for the people of the surrounding area and encourages participation at many levels, from students who want to advance their skills to grandparents who just love to play music. We have musicians from 15 through 95.
Anyone interested in bringing out their old instrument and dusting off the valves or pads is welcome to come anytime we’re practicing. The band encourages all abilities in the goal of promoting music in our communities. Rehearsals for the fall will start Monday night, Sept. 9, at 6:45 PM in the music room at Gould Academy.
