DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am attempting to locate members of the family of the late Judy Ann Meads Tripp. I have looked for over 30 years for her, her mother and her brother, David Lancaster. She was a cousin I never got to know and it would be a great thing if I could locate her family. Thanks so much for your help. — Charles, no town

ANSWER: You are a wise man to reach out to Sun Spots. We’ve had great luck over the years finding family members and friends.

This obituary could have clues: https://www.sunjournal.com/2016/03/04/judy-tripp/. In it, it states that Judy Tripp, the daughter of Burman and Norma (Whittaker) Meads, passed away on Feb. 19, 2016, at the age of 66 at Maine Medical Center. She was born Dec. 13, 1949, at Fort Dix, New Jersey, and was an “Army brat.”

She lived in the Oxford Hills area, worked at Hannaford, and was a member of the Paris Ladies’ Fire Auxiliary in the 1990s.

The obituary lists her survivors as former husband, Scott; her son, Leon, his wife, Kristi, their son, Colby; her daughter, Amanda and her sons, Mason and Caleb.

I went on to find Scott F. Tripp’s obituary from May 3, 2019: https://www.chandlerfunerals.com/obituaries/Scott-F-Tripp?obId=4380824 . Scott lived in western Maine as well, and also passed away at Maine Medical Center. Children Leon and Amanda are both listed in this obituary as survivors, as well as his second wife, Mary Ellen, stepchildren, and the grandchildren, Mason and Caleb.

I also found a David Lancaster, age 72, who lives in Mt. Vernon and is a wooden bowl turner. This could be Judy’s brother.

Sun Spotters, if you can help Charles find his family members, please write in and I’ll put you in touch with him.
