There are some real doozies among the legislative proposals submitted by Auburn’s Rep. Laurel Libby.
She wanted to allow bail commissioners to carry guns into jails and prisons.
Anyone who has ever been “inside” knows how dangerous this could be. Ask any guard at the county lockup if it’s a good idea, and one might get an overdose of the stink eye.
She also wanted to create a new protected class of citizens with respect to their vaccination status. Her proposal sought to end discrimination under the Maine Human Rights Act.
Huh? So, would it be illegal to ask if one is vaccinated before entering a nursing home or hospital? This could create all kinds of problems for the elderly and immunocompromised.
Both these proposals failed to pass. They show how out of touch Libby is.
People should vote for Dan Campbell. He has a record of sensible public service.
