FARMINGTON — ArtsFarmington plans to present the dynamic accordion ensemble Maine Squeeze at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8, in the Nordica Auditorium in Merrill Hall on the campus of the University of Maine at Farmington, 224 Main St.
Maine Squeeze is a six-member group with five accordions, one guitar and a wide variety of percussion instruments such as washboard and castanets. The group will focus on music for dancing, and tunes to show off the versatility of the accordion. Audience participation can range from toe tapping to dancing in the aisles. The performers will teach dances including the polka, waltz, tarantella and the chicken. Singing along is also encouraged — but not required.
Admission will cost $20, although free for UMF students and children.
