DEAR SUN SPOTS: An open house at the J&O Irish Museum on Main Street (Route 140) in Hartford is planned for Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 5 to 7 p.m.

This is for anyone who has not been able to tour the museum on a Sunday during July and August, when it is normally open.

The open house was originally set for 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., but has been changed because it is now getting dark a bit earlier.

We hope to see you Sept. 11, and thank you to Sun Spots for all you do for our group.—Doreen, Hartford

Since Senior College has become a nonprofit, it has been looking into a few new venues. This fall, it will continue to have Zoom classes, but will also offer more in-person classes at Schooner Estates, Lewiston -Auburn Municipal Airport, Clover Manor, Temple Shalom and the Auburn Public Library.

We will continue to coordinate with the library for Senior College in the Community on Tuesday afternoons.

Here is a look at our one-day classes:

• Larry Canepa is back with three fascinating demonstrations about food and cooking from diverse cultures.

• John Cleveland will moderate a conversation with Auburn Mayor Jeffery Harmon.

• Virtual visits to the Nile with Bill Phillips, to Monhegan Island with Peggy Volock and to North Dakota with our returning travelogue specialist, Eve Fralick.

• Alan Elze takes a new look at “The Wizard of Oz,” both the book and movie.

There are also two game nights, and Bettyanne Sheats is set to teach us about responsible voting.

We will also be given a rare opportunity by Judy Hierstein to learn about international signs and symbols.

Our visits to Temple Shalom are to be hosted by Rabbi Sruli Dresdner, who plans to teach us about Judaism and Hanukkah.

And do not miss Loring Danforth’s presentation on bird-watching.

We might add more choices before the season begins.

ANSWER: That is quite the lineup. I see many classes in which I am interested. Some classes are on Zoom, some are hybrid and some are in person.
