TOWNSHIP C — Motorists and rescuers secured a bus carrying college students Monday as it teetered over a 50-foot embankment when part of South Arm Road gave way in northern Oxford County, Andover Fire Chief Jim Adler said Tuesday night.
There were no reported injuries.
Adler said there were about 20 students on the bus but he could not confirm which college they were from. He said the road was blocked about four hours.
Witnesses at the scene said the weight of the bus caused the side of the road to give way and the back half of it to teeter over the embankment, according to Facebook posts. People in two trucks secured the bus to their vehicles with chains and successfully got the driver and passengers off it, the posts said.
Andover Fire Department responded to the scene.
Oxford County Sheriff’s Office did not return emails or phone calls Monday or Tuesday for further information.
