Joan Beal is running to represent District 81 in the Maine House.
She spent over 30 years as a teacher, working primarily with young children. But that is just one of the ways she has devoted her life to helping people.
She was also a court-appointed special advocate for children in foster care. This has provided her with an understanding of the way laws affect families.
She worked on the Norway Budget Committee, the Comprehensive Planning Committee, and with Norway Downtown Design and Development. Her work on those and other committees has not only provided her with a keen understanding of the needs of the people in our area, but it also has provided her with an understanding of the essential tools required for effecting change.
Those are a few of the reasons that I will be voting for Joan on Nov. 5. I hope others will as well.
