AUBURN — Mac’s Downeast Seafood at 894 Minot Ave. in Auburn has purchased the former Gifford’s Ice Cream stand next door at 910 Minot Ave.
The $500,000 sale was reported by Mainebiz earlier this month to Mac’s Holdings by the Gifford Family Limited Partnership, which closed June 20.
In a social media post Aug. 29, Mac’s confirmed it plans to move into the building as soon as renovations are complete, but offered no timeline or other information about the move. Mac’s Seafood is a small restaurant and retail seafood counter with limited indoor seating and outdoor picnic tables. The move next door will give the business nearly 2,000 square feet with ample parking.
Thomas Coulombe and Paul Camire began operating the seafood restaurant in November 2007. Attempts to reach the management were unsuccessful.
Mac’s Seafood is one of the few Auburn and Lewiston restaurants that are open seven days a week.
