STATE — Camp Susan Curtis, a beacon of hope and opportunity for Maine’s youth, proudly announces its 50th year of operation. Since its inception in 1974, the camp has been dedicated to providing transformative experiences for young people across the state, fostering leadership skills, self-confidence, and lifelong friendships.

Located amidst the picturesque landscapes of Maine, Camp Susan Curtis has served as a haven where children from diverse backgrounds come together to learn, grow, and thrive. Over the past five decades, the camp has expanded its programs to include various activities such as outdoor adventure, arts and crafts, environmental education, and team-building exercises, all designed to nurture the holistic development of every camper.

“We are thrilled to celebrate this significant milestone in our history,” said Scott Merrow, Executive Director of Camp Susan Curtis. “For 50 years, we have remained steadfast in our commitment to empowering Maine’s youth, providing them with skills and experiences that prepare them for bright futures.”

To commemorate its 50th anniversary, Camp Susan Curtis is planning a series of special events throughout the summer season. These events will not only celebrate the achievements of past campers and staff but also reaffirm the camp’s dedication to shaping future generations of leaders.

“As we reflect on our past successes and look forward to the future, we are grateful for the support of our community, volunteers, and donors who have made it possible for us to impact the lives of thousands of young people,” added Merrow.

Camp Susan Curtis continues to uphold its mission of inclusivity, ensuring that all children, regardless of their socio-economic background, have access to a transformative camp experience. As the camp enters its next half-century, it remains committed to fostering a supportive and nurturing environment where every child can discover their potential and build a foundation for success.
