BUCKFIELD — Brittany Carrier scored three goals to pace Buckfield to a 5-0 season-opening girls soccer victory over Mountain Valley on Monday.
The Bucks (1-0) took control early, netting four goals before halftime. Sophi St. Pierre and Cora Brewster each contributed a goal, while Taylor Harvey had two assists and Chloee Bennette and Anna Thone had one apiece.
TRAIP 3, POLAND 2: Celia Kehl’s two late goals helped the Rangers rally from a two-goal halftime deficit to defeat the Knights in Poland.
Poland (1-1) led 2-0 at intermission thanks to goals by Leksi Langevin and Delilah Farrington.
Traip (1-0) got within one score on an own goal by the Knights. Kehl scored the tying goal with seven minutes left and netted the game winner with three minutes to play.
Poland goalie Olivia Rioux made nine saves, while Lily Stuart stopped eight shots for the Rangers.
YARMOUTH 5, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 1: The host Clippers (1-0-1) received goals from four different players as they built a 4-0 halftime advantage and topped the Patriots (0-1) at Yarmouth.
Rory Tompkins, Taylor Oranellas, Ali Miller and Abby Noble all scored for Yarmouth, which also benefited from an own goal.
Hannah Bolduc had a second-half goal for Gray-New Gloucester.
Goalie Hailey Carson stopped nine shots for the Patriots, while Marian Pitney recorded two saves for the Clippers.
ST. DOMINIC 6, SACOPEE VALLEY 0: Brookelyn Whited and Nina Brown each tallied two goals and one assist in the Saints’ (1-0) win over the Hawks (0-2) in Hiram.
Gabby Allen and Lauren Naous also scored goals for St. Dom’s, while Piper Croteau, Maddie Stratman and Allen recorded one assist each.
FIELD HOCKEY
ST. DOMINIC 4, CAPE ELIZABETH 1: Chloe Beauchesne boosted the Saints (2-0) to a road win over the Capers (0-2) in Cape Elizabeth.
Beauchesne scored three goals, and Ava Martin put one in the back of the cage for St. Dom’s.
Saints goalie Maia Cote made five saves.
BOYS SOCCER
YARMOUTH 3, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 0: Lucas Hayner scored early in the first half and the Yarmouth keeper did not need to record any saves as the Clippers (1-0-1) blanked the Patriots (1-1) at Gray.
Owen Hayes and Will Redfield added second-half goals for Yarmouth.
Tristian Cuttler made 10 saves for Gray-New Gloucester.
ST. DOMINIC 3, SACOPEE VALLEY 0: Jonathan Tangilamesu scored two goals and the Saints (1-1) blanked the Hawks (0-2) in Auburn.
Joe Adams netted St. Dom’s first goal in the opening half, then Tangilamesu added two in the second.
