The La Rencontre luncheon series begins on Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Franco Center in Lewiston. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. for socializing. Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. followed by performances from the Center’s “Best of Broadway” season opener.

La Rencontre will be held Thursday, Sept. 12, and feature several performances from the Best of Broadway season opener (Sept. 6 and 7) at the Franco Center at 46 Cedar St., Lewiston. Part of the Best of Broadway cast and crew include, from left: Torrey Gimpel, music director; Bette Sanborn, assistant director; Jake Hodgkin, director; and Samantha Herriot, choreographer.

This event is open to everyone including the community of Franco-American and French-speaking families in the area. It is an opportunity for everyone to connect with each other and with their neighbors of diverse cultures, languages, and backgrounds. Meals and stories will be shared, friends will be reunited, and memories will be made.

The menu includes pot roast, squash, rolls, and carrot cake.

The Franco Center offers tours of the former St. Mary’s Church with stories and exhibits about the French-Canadian immigrants; miscellaneous French entertainment throughout the performance year; a French library with diverse resources including oral histories; and an escape room adventure that uses history displays to find clues.

The Franco Center is at 46 Cedar St., Lewiston. Parking is in the Oxford Street mill lot. Handicap access in on the Lincoln St. Side of the building.
