FARMINGTON — A condensed version of the play Romeo and Juliet will be presented on Oct. 8 by ArtsFarmington and the Theater at Monmouth.

“Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou, Romeo”

This may be the most quoted line of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, but this classic tragedy has much more to recommend it. Come and enjoy a condensed version [90 minutes] of Romeo and Juliet played by actors from the Theater at Monmouth. The play is sponsored by ArtsFarmington and will be on Tuesday, October 8, at 7 p.m. in the Emery Community Arts Center.

The actors will present the play for Mt. Blue High School students in the morning and will give a workshop to a small group of students in the afternoon.

A traveling troupe from the Theater at Monmouth brings Shakespeare alive for school and community audiences each fall as part of their community outreach.  We are lucky to have them again this year, and are especially lucky to have them present a play which will be read this year by the 9th graders in Mt. Blue High School.  So please join us for the intrigues and tragedy of Romeo and Juliet.  As you may know it was the inspiration for Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story.

Tickets can be purchased online at artsfarmington.org or at the door. Suggested adult ticket is $20, more if you can, less if you can’t. All welcome, no one turned away. Youth 18 and under free.
