Auburn residents by now have received their tax bill. Did they go into sticker shock? How many of them thought they still had a senior property tax freeze? Guess again.
The senior tax freeze lasted one year, and then Democrats in Augusta voted to take their tax break away. The Democrats also voted to take away the cap on property tax.
Rep. Laurel Libby voted to keep the property tax freeze and to keep the property cap tax. While Democrats in Augusta have increased taxes, Rep. Libby has constantly voted to keep more of people’s money in their pocket. She cannot do it alone.
We need people like Rep. Libby to fight for us in Augusta. We cannot afford to pay more taxes for projects that do not benefit Mainers.
I hope people vote to reelect Laurel Libby; she’ll fight for us.
