Double Bubble Laundromat as seen on Sept. 12 in Jay. Leo Goddard/Franklin Journal

JAY – Double Bubble Laundromat has been the pick-up location for the Coats for Kids program for at least 10 years. In the past, Salvation Army would bring clean, donated coats to Double Bubble for families to pick up. This year, Salvation Army won’t be providing donations at all.

Double Bubble Manager Erin Ryan said that they still plan to participate in the Coats for Kids program, but they will have to accept donations themselves. Salvation Army has provided the business with a sticker to keep on their window to signify that Double Bubble is a verified donation location.

When asked why this change came about, Ryan simply said “money.” She said that there were over 400 donations last year.

Ryan said that they will be accepting coats, hats, and other winter gear at Double Bubble Laundromat until the beginning or middle of November. “I want to get them out [to kids] before the snow comes,” said Ryan.

Double Bubble Laundromat is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They can be found on Facebook or reached at [207] 987-1077.
