POLAND — It took three attempts, but Regional School Unit 16 finally has a budget for the current 2024-25 school year.
Voters in the three-town district approved the measure overall, 741-588, though Poland voters wanted to reject it, voting 425-394 against.
The measure passed in Mechanic Falls, 148-96, and in Minot, 199-67.
Superintendent Amy Hediger sent out a statement Tuesday night once the results were in. “We are grateful to the community for their support and engagement throughout this process. This budget allows us to continue providing high-quality education for all students, while also addressing critical needs to improve our school facilities.
“We still have work ahead with reviewing the cost-sharing formula and refining the scope of the elementary HVAC projects, but we’re excited to move forward with a focus on these important improvements. The support of the RSU 16 community makes all the difference.”
