Author David Florig

HARRISON — Fans of historical fiction, the sport of curling, and Scotland are in for a treat! David Florig, author of The Stones of Ailsa Craig, as well as the newly released The Shattered Curling Stone, will read from both books, discuss the sport of curling, and sign copies of his books when he appears at Harrison Village Library on Monday, September 23 at 6:30 p.m.

Florig is a member and past-president of the Pine Tree Curling Club in Portland, as well as a member of the Belfast Curling Club in Maine. His debut novel, The Stones of Ailsa Craig, is an homage to Belfast, Maine; the glorious Maine coast; and the ancient Scottish sport of curling. Set in present-day Belfast, Maine and 1880s Scotland, the novel is a sometimes dark look into one man’s loss, loneliness, obsession, and quest for vengeance. Rich in curling and Maine history, The Stones of Ailsa Craig is a work of historical fiction. Florig’s new novel, The Shattered Curling Stone, is also a work of historical fiction, centered around young Ailsa Maclaren, who
takes up curling at a time when women were neither encouraged, nor often permitted, to play the game.
