TURNER — Police shut down a section of Route 117 Thursday night after two vehicles collided head-on at about 9 p.m.
Early reports were that there were serious injuries in the crash, including broken legs. Androscoggin County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash site along with fire and medical crews.
The wreck was reported in the area of 556 Buckfield Road, a stretch of Route 117 near Mountainside Drive.
It was not immediately clear how many victims were involved. Calls were put out for a LifeFlight helicopter, although it was not immediately clear if it responded to the scene.
By 9:30 p.m., police were asking that motorists find a different route around the crash scene as medical crews tended the victims and an investigation got underway.
