DEAR SUN SPOTS: On Saturday, Sept. 7, I took my boyfriend of over 30 years to the Mandarin Buffet on Sabattus Street in Lewiston for his 74th birthday. When the server brought our bill, there were only two fortune cookies on the tray. She said our bill had already been paid!
When we asked who had paid for our meal, she just smiled and walked away. We want to thank whoever did such a kind act and how much we appreciate it. I hope they read your column! Thank you. — No name, no town
ANSWER: I’m so glad for you and your sweetie. Congratulations on your long relationship and for another year to celebrate. Restaurant angels are just the best!
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have been a big fan of you and your column for many years and have benefited from the information shared by you and your readers. Thank you!
I recently was in the position of needing to spruce up my gardens and get them ready for fall (and then winter) but was unable to do it all because of difficulties with bending, kneeling, moving earth, etc. I called Sarah, the owner of Garden Bevy (512-2560) in June to see if they could help.
Sarah worked out a lovely plan with me and came out to the garden about six times (usually about three hours each time) and weeded beds (that had not been weeded for years), pruned perennials, separated perennials, shaped garden beds, and mulched for the winter. She is professional, a great communicator, knowledgeable, and a very diligent and hard worker.
The gardens are now at their best, a joy to look at, and I look forward to seeing the perennials flower in the spring. I highly recommend Sarah. She also is available to help people plant gardens. — Patty, Auburn
ANSWER: What a stellar recommendation! Garden Bevy is now in the Rolodex! Thank you for the kind words.
Readers, if you have other landscapers, gardeners, etc., you’d like to recommend, you know what to do!
