RUMFORD — The Maine State Police bomb squad determined suspicious items found on Bridge Street on Tuesday afternoon were not a concern, according to local police.

Rumford police, firefighters and Med-Care Ambulance were called around 2 p.m. to the Rumford Information Center at 6 Bridge St., according to a Facebook post by the Police Department.

Maine Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said other than confirming state police response, no further information could be shared as the investigation belongs to the Police Department.

Rumford police updated the public via Facebook that the bomb squad gave an “all clear” after determining “the items near the information booth are not of concern.”

Route 2 was closed while local authorities responded and was reopened about 3 p.m.
