Bella Sturtevant of Leeds has been awarded The Maine Community Foundation’s Parsons Family Scholarship.
She plans to attend Rhode Island College.
The scholarship provides support for LGBTQ+ graduating seniors and their allies at Maine high schools in pursuit of post-secondary study. Graduating high school seniors of any gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion or socioeconomic are eligible to apply, according to a news release from the foundation.
This scholarship is inspired by the lives and work of Betsy Parsons and her parents.
