LEWISTON — The Church of Safe Injection is set to hold the grand opening of The Sanctuary, Maine’s first peer-led recovery center rooted in harm reduction principles.
The free event if set for 2-4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at 199 Main St.
Highlights include guided tours of The Sanctuary, which offers safe spaces for peer support services and harm reduction services. Attendees can connect with peer navigators to learn more about the critical role of harm reduction in recovery and the importance of community engagement. Those in attendance can also access information on upcoming programs, events and training opportunities.
In addition to celebrating the grand opening of the recovery center, the organization plans to participate in National Save a Life Day, providing free naloxone and overdose recognition and response training during the event.
Refreshments will be provided, and free naloxone kits, training demos and educational brochures will be available.
