RANGELEY — The Church of the Good Shepherd in Rangeley is set to hold a blessing of the animals at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, outside at 2614 Main St.
This event is part of the Season of Creation in the church calendar.
The custom of blessing animals is conducted in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi and his love for all creatures great and small. The service will feature short readings and an individual blessing for each animal. Pets and beloved animals of all sorts are welcome.
Children may bring their stuffed animal friends, and people can bring photographs of pets who would not enjoy attending the event, according to a news release from The Rev. Thom Rock.
Free-will donations will be collected to benefit the Franklin County Animal Shelter. Monetary donations as well as pet supplies will be accepted.
