House District 90 candidate Dan Campbell and I have been friends for more than 60 years. Many have heard of his richly deserved civic awards, but it’s the innumerable, untold, behind the scenes personal stories that perhaps offer a truer picture of the man.
In 2001, I lost my wife, Lyn, to cancer, and three years later my daughter, Emily, in a car accident. Within hours after hearing the news, Dan began summoning his vast network of contacts to stage memorial services on their behalf. With over 500 people at each service, he arranged everything from the outdoor seating for the overflow crowd at the West Auburn Church, to the paper bag luminaries that lined the road leading to the Lost Valley lodge.
His unwavering compassion for others and ability to get things done are why we need him representing us in Augusta.
Coach Dan has my eternal gratitude, friendship . . . and my vote.
