DEAR SUN SPOTS: Would you please help us get the word out that Danville Junction Grange in Auburn will be holding its monthly bingo games beginning Saturday, Dec. 7, at 6 p.m. and continuing on the first Saturday of each month after that. These events are packed full of good food, lots of laughter, and great fellowship, so please put Dec. 7 on your calendar and plan to join us.

Our Grange will continue  this fall with the monthly sale of delicious homemade chicken pies to raise funds for repairs to our hall. Pies must be ordered ahead by calling Maynard Chapman at 312-5591.

We thank both you, Ms. Sun Spots, and all of our loyal followers for all the support that you have continually given us for so many years. We would not have survived without all of you! — Glenys, Danville

ANSWER: Granges are an important part of Maine history, and upkeep is expensive. We hope you continue to receive community support.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Androscoggin Historical Society, with multiple other county historical societies, will host a grand yard sale Saturday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the West Auburn Schoolhouse, 740 West Auburn Road, Auburn, rain or shine.

This sale will be filled with treasures, old and new, and is a great opportunity to do some early holiday shopping and support some wonderful community volunteers. The one-room schoolhouse venue, with its warm stove going, adds historical relevance and charm.

Thank you for your support. — Penny, Lewiston
ANSWER: ‘Tis the season for yard sales. We hope you have a great turnout!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: During my years as a teacher, I used my overhead projector to show my students visual transparencies to enhance their learning because I was a firm believer that visual learning was just as important as auditory learning. This projector is in very good condition, and I would be very happy to donate it along with some plain paper copier transparency film to anyone or organization that would like to have it. I live off Turner Street in Auburn. It would have to be picked up at my residence. Anyone interested in having it can contact me by calling me at 207-783-8081. — Dr. Plummer, Auburn

ANSWER: We hope someone takes Dr. Plummer up on his generous offer! Visual learning is indeed important.
