FARMINGTON — The Mt. Blue Area Garden Club is set to host gardener Barbara Emerson for a free presentation on edible landscape design at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Trinity United Methodist Church on Farmington Falls Road. Light refreshments will be served at 5:30 pm.
After 30-plus years in sales and marketing, including 16 years at Horticulture magazine, Emerson is semi-retired and living in Maine. She is past treasurer and past president of the Direct Gardening Association, a principal master gardener, and a home gardener with a passion for growing both new and heirloom vegetables.
Starting with a brief history of food gardening, she will cover the concepts to consider when integrating edible plants in one’s ornamental garden, or edible flowers into one’s vegetable garden.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
