He was taken to Oxford County Jail where his bail was set at $20,000.

She suffered bruises and abrasions in addition to the sex assault, police said.

According to a police affidavit, Sturtevant and the woman had met earlier in the evening at a gas station and convenience store in Mexico, where Sturtevant offered to help the woman carry the alcohol she had purchased after a brief conversation in the parking lot.

At her home, she invited Sturtevant inside and the two had drinks, according to the affidavit.

When she went to her bedroom to retrieve cigarettes Sturtevant pushed her onto her bed.

After the alleged assault, she was able to fight him, get away from him and call 911. Sturtevant left her home, according to the affidavit.

She said she believed her alleged attacker was pictured in a photo of Sturtevant police showed her after she described him, where he had been and what he’d been doing.

Sturtevant told police he had been at home with his wife, but she told police he had called her to say he had been at a woman’s home in Mexico, according to the affidavit.

He later told police he had been at the alleged victim’s home and that the two of them had had consensual sex, according to the affidavit.

Sturtevant had recently been convicted of domestic assault in connection with an incident reported in September 2022, according to court records. He was sentenced to six months in jail but the sentence was suspended and he was put on probation.
