AUBURN — Two Lewiston men were charged this week with trafficking illegal drugs.
An Androscoggin County grand jury indicted Dylan Tessier, 25, and Normand Tessier, 63, on Tuesday on charges of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs and aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs with a firearm.
Each charge is punishable by up to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000.
The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency said the two men were arrested at a Lewiston apartment in July.
Local police served a search warrant at an apartment at 229 Blake St. following a monthlong investigation into illegal distribution of fentanyl and methamphetamines from the apartment.
Over $10,000 worth, or about 80 grams of fentanyl, was seized along with an AK-47 semiautomatic rifle and $2,500 in suspected drug proceeds, MDEA Cmdr. Scott Pelletier said.
He said the investigation is among many efforts by federal, state and local police to identify and disrupt drug trafficking organizations.
Neither of the two men are in custody and both were issued summonses on the charges, according to a spokesman at Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn.
